The Magellan Centre will offer a continuum of care in one building. Realizing that not all seniors in our community require long-term care, the Centre will also accommodate 57 affordable housing units.
Affordable housing is a residential option for independent seniors. This differs from long-term care, which accommodates and supports people who can no longer live independently and who may require 24-hour medical/nursing care and supervision. Magellan has committed to making 57 affordable housing units in accordance with City’s Open Door Affordable Housing Program, which gives priority to low-income seniors.
The Magellan Centre will be a leader in care for the elderly providing quality services and programs in a safe, modern and accessible setting. As a community hub, Magellan will welcome all neighbourhood seniors and their families to participate in shared experiences and encourage a sense of belonging.
