TORONTO, ONTARIO: Today, 70 Anos Canada, a volunteer organizing committee of Portuguese Canadians – AnaBela Taborda, Angie Câmara, Bela Cumberbatch, Bernardino Ferreira, Bon Falcone, Jorge Ribeiro, Manuel DaCosta, Maria João Dodman, Matthew Correia, Tânia Barbosa -announce a yearlong program to honour Portuguese Pioneers who first immigrated to Canada on May 13, 1953 in support of Magellan Community Foundation.

The honourific and marquee celebrations on May 13 and May 14, generously supported by lead partner LiUNA Local 183, will feature a star-studded line-up featuring Mariza, Pedro Abrunhosa and Bárbara Bandeira, while honouring Portuguese-Canadians for their outstanding achievements on the Portuguese-Canadian Walk of Fame and recognizing the future ground-breaking of the Magellan Centre, the first culturally sensitive home for Portuguese-speaking seniors. 

First time ever, the Portuguese community will host the public and share an authentic culinary, cultural, and musical experience at the doorstep of City Hall, on Nathan Phillips Square with a licensed 19+ area. The weekend celebrations will proudly include confirmed attendance from officials of the Government of Portugal, the Regional Government of the Azores, a delegation from the Government of Canada and more to be announced.

o   All proceeds of this tickets event will go to the Magellan Community Foundation
