Magellan Community Foundation first-ever brand campaign a success
TORONTO, ON – January 27, 2022 – Magellan Community Foundation (MCF) would like to thank the Portuguese media partners and the community for supporting its “Give Back – It’s Our Turn” brand awareness campaign.
MCF is also pleased to announce that another generous gift was received. We thank the Portuguese Cheese Company who recently donated $100,000 to our capital campaign.
“I am thrilled to announce our support towards the creation of a senior’s long-term care and affordable housing complex within our Portuguese speaking community. It is an initiative which is long overdue and one which acknowledges the need for culturally sensitive care to those in our community who are greatly deserving.” says Antonio DeMelo, President of Portuguese Cheese Company. “I am inspired and encouraged by the commitment of those spearheading this much needed initiative and I strongly urge others to participate in whatever capacity they can. This is a testament to what we can do together for the betterment of our community and a legacy we will proudly leave for those in need.
This brings our contributions to $5.34 million with more soon to come in achieving our goal of $15.2 million “Voyage to Discovery” Capital Campaign.
The campaign launched last December was supported by eighteen Portuguese language media outlets who provided airtime, print, and digital advertising to reach the public. The campaign was featured in ten publications and there were nine broadcast interviews with members of the board.
This was MCF’s first brand campaign aimed at increasing awareness of the Magellan Centre. This unique, multi-use building will be the first nonprofit long-term care home for Portuguese-speaking seniors in Ontario, additional affordable housing residences and a ground floor community hub.
“We would like to thank all our media partners for their support in building awareness of this historical project,” says Ulysses Pratas, Chair of MCF. “The Board of MCF would also like to extend its gratitude to the Portuguese Cheese Company. Their generosity takes us another step closer to realizing our goal of supporting Portuguese-speaking seniors in the years and decades ahead.”
