Major donors have stepped up to help bring the Magellan Centre to life
For Immediate Release
TORONTO, ON – December 14, 2021 – Today, Magellan Community Foundation (MCF) announced that the Ontario Formwork Association, Arnold Santos and Ermidio Alves have contributed a combined $500,000 to help build the Magellan Centre. The donor announcements are a part of the MCF “Give Back – It’s Our Turn” holiday campaign launched last week, aimed at generating more awareness of the Magellan Centre.
“With every donation, we are one step closer to making the Magellan Centre a reality for the Portuguese-speaking community. Our thanks to the Ontario Formwork Association, Arnold Santos and Ermidio Alves for believing in and supporting this much needed project. Their generosity will help with the building of this complex to support and care for Portuguese-speaking seniors in Ontario for years to come,” says Ulysses Pratas, Chair, Magellan Community Foundation.
Located in the heart of Toronto, the Magellan Centre will be the first long-term care home for Portuguese-speaking seniors; and affordable housing residences with a community hub for social gatherings.
